I watched this clip on the daily show, and was shocked at this douchebag - but now, hearing him "give his serious point" rebuttal on o'reilly just makes me want to cry. Literally.

How rude are you to assume that someone's political views have ANYTHING to do with how compassionate they are towards raising a child with special needs?

Spend a day in Pratt's Art Ed department. You will find an OVERWHELMING amount of most likely liberal, teachers! And young people studying to be teachers! And all of these people do work with special needs children.

Suck it. Really.

Pro-choice doesn't mean you love abortions and would quickly shrug off aborting an unborn child for a. the heck of it b. a handicap or c. promiscuity. It means you don't want the government forcing you to carry a child for 9 months and give birth to it - you know, like in the case of rape!

So how dare you - insinuate that because I am liberal, I am somehow less compassionate to the special needs children in this world. How dare you think that because "religion isn't as important to me as it is to others" that I would abort my child just because "it didn't come out right."

A couple of weeks ago, Andrew called me sweetheart. He never usually calls me that, and it seemed really adorable (once you hear baby repetitively it almost doesn't seem like a pet name, just like it's my name) and so I told him, "I like when you call me that."

Ever since that day - maybe about once a day or every other, or so - he slips in a "sweetheart" or "sweetie" nonchalantly in between the "baby"s. I don't know if he knows that I notice. But I do.

Also - I always pick him up from work, but tonight he is getting out so late so he offered to take the train instead. I texted him and said, are you sure? and will you come here?

And he said, "of course baby."

It's the little things.

Andrew and I (and Ralph) are at the bar on the corner of Andrew's street. We have our laptops out and are getting work done, while having a glass of wine and a beer.

As I am typing for my assignment, Andrew reaches around my computer - holding his iPhone - on which he has written (using a drawing application, so he wrote it with his fingers) "You look beautiful in your computer light."

I'm so tired of being harassed every time I go outside in this city. It literally makes me not want to go anywhere. Just because I'm wearing a dress and heels does not make it okay for you to talk to me like a piece of meat or trash. I am actually quite intelligent, but why would you know that or care?

Why do guys think this is okay? That's it's totally fine to scream "sexy", lean incredibly too close to me and say "hey baby", or make actual sex noises at me when I walk down the street. It's gross. And beyond that, it's disrespectful.
You are never going to pick up a woman that way, unless she is a legitimate prostitute, which I'm 100% sure I do not look like.

I'm really considering printing out a little flyer that says something to the jist of "Thanks for the compliment but honestly, no woman appreciates you screaming at her while she is just trying to walk to the bank, subway, restaurant, or store. Do yourself a favor and stop talking to us like meat or trash and try speaking to us like humans. Maybe that way, you'll actually get a date. The way you are acting is completely disrespectful and also pretty disgusting. Just because I'm looking presentable in public does not mean I want to get in your pants. Thanks, sincerely, all of the women in New York City."

Flipping them off, shaking my head, or even flat out saying "you are being disgusting" doesn't seem to work - maybe an informational pamphlet would.

Belated Anniversary Celebration!

So, because of mishaps and scheduling, Andrew and I celebrated our one year anniversary, one month and 4 days after the 1 year anniversary of the day we met.
We woke up leisurely and got ourselves together to grab some brunch in the East Village.
We walked Ralphie to Andrew's where he ran in to change and grab our Animal Collective tickets, and a camera. As he did that, I walked Ralph back to my place and then met Andrew at the Bedford L stop.
As he approached me I noticed he had two iced coffees in his hand. Yes! Cute.
And as I took mine from him, he pulled out a rose from behind his back.
Double Cute.

We then hopped on the L and found a cute cafe to have lunch. After a delicious chicken francese and hamburger, we headed uptown to Central Park, where we were going to rent a rowboat.
However, there was a huge line which we did not count on! And we didn't have enough time to boat for an hour and get to our concert on time - so we found a shady spot in the park and just hung out for a bit. Took some pictures with Andrew's camera, and a cute little video or 2 (which I'll have to steal from his camera). Then we headed back twds Brooklyn, stopping to share a reese's ice cream bar and vanilla milkshake, and a bathroom pitstop in Bloomies! haha

We then got to the Animal Collective concert in Prospect park only 10 minutes past the doors opening. We got right in and after grabbing a water, two beers, and wine - popped a squat on a hill to wait for the concert to begin.

The opening band, Black Dice, was not very good. I can see how they were supposed to tie into Animal Collective - but their music just sounded like noise, honestly. Sorry Black Dice!!

Animal Collective, on the other hand, was amazing. Andrew and I wedged our way to the middle of the crowd and danced the whole time. We were the only people dancing so much in our area - what a bunch of hipster losers who are afraid of having fun and looking a little silly. We busted a freakin' move anyway.

Afterward, we hopped in the G train (ick!) and went back to my place to attend to Ralph and find a place for our late night dinner.
We went to a Japanese restaurant that was less than 3 minutes walking, from my apartment.
We ordered a bunch of little "tapas" type dishes, and shared a large noodle dish and a bottle of sake. Plus they have Sapporo on draft there, for 4 dollars! Very excited for Andrew. I had a coke =). The food was delicious and we were full, without being stuffed. And it wasn't too expensive.

We walked back to my place, got into bed with Ralphie and watched the Daily Show on my computer until we passed out. We didn't wake up til 11:30 today. It was lovely.

Yesterday I worked at the East Village Pink Olive store and about 10 minutes to closing, I was getting everything together so I could leave right at 8 and I see someone walk in from the corner of my eye.
My first thought was "ugh, now if they stay until or past 8, I won't be getting out of here." But then I look up, and it's Andrew!
He came and surprised me - it was so exciting.
He was out with two of his friends from work and so he came to get me to come hang out with them after work.
But not until he bought me a beautiful vintage ring that we have in the store and I love.

and Today is Ashton's birthday!! Can't wait to go out and celebrate later! Woowee.

So I bought a bike yesterday!
and it looks like this...

Basically nothing like all the little fixed gear bikes people speed around on in Williamsburg.
I love it. It is beautiful and pink and shiny and I am going to get a basket for it,
and maybe some streamers.

I rode it home from work yesterday and then Andrew and I had the amazing idea to go swimming!
So we took our bikes across the Williamsburg bridge and went swimming in the Lower East Side, for free!
There's a huge outdoor pool there and it was really great.

We rode back, got some groceries and wine and then cooked a salmon dinner at my house.
He helped me put up shelves being super manly and using a cordless power drill. Ooh. Exciting!
But now I've got two beautiful black shelves on my purple wall and can start putting more things away.
Next I just need hooks for my bags.

Then me, drew, and ralph headed back to Andrew's to hang more things with the drill and then paaaaass out!

Right now I am yet again at work, and yet again bored. 8 hours is too long for a shift at a retail store. It takes away my whole day.
I live in walking distance to a dog run and I haven't even had a chance to bring Ralph there since before I moved in. eek!!

Saturday - hurry up so I can have a day off!

I just painted two coats of white over the big "Troy" that was spray painted on my wall in black - it's pretty much covered. But I am painting over most of that anyway with another color.

Found that quote randomly today and enjoyed it thoroughly.

While I count down the minutes until 8 pm at work, I figured I'd update livejournal on my life.

I found an apartment, and it is beautiful. It's funny actually because I had just taken a second look at an apartment that I thought I'd go with, living with two guys, had a backyard area, 800 a month, etc. But I brought Andrew along with me this time and he was less impressed than I was with the place and tried to point out that maybe I was looking at it in a positive way because I needed a place (badly) and just wanted a place I knew I could move my stuff into on time. So, out of frustration, I said "look, there's another place that contacted me too - let's just go see it on our way to brunch." So we did, and we were blown away. Beautiful, clean, new, large, high ceilings, amazing. And less than 5 minutes from the Bedford stop. I'm sorry what?!

So, needless to say - I moved in there. Monday. Still not done working on my room because I need to paint before putting up shelves/hooks and can't paint til Sunday.
But the place is amazing and beautiful and actually rivals Andrew's amazing loft.

My new job is going well also. The store is adorable and I was actually able to work at the same time with my boss and she was super nice and did not micro-manage me. Good sign.

I totally prefer East Village over Park Slope because 1. it is ONE STOP from my house, literally and 2. it's got cuter stuff! But Park Slope is super cute too, and a really nice area in Brooklyn.

Meredith visited me today at work with Kim and Heidi. It was a really nice way to start off my 8 hour shift. And she brought me delicious mac n' cheese for lunch!

Tonight my friend Ashley is coming over for dinner. She is Zak (a guy who works with Andrew)'s girlfriend and is super sweet. So that's exciting.

Last Saturday was the one year anniversary of when I met Andrew but since he worked, we couldn't really celebrate. But luckily, we both have off next Friday - so I think we will do something then. More exciting.

Also - I just saw that Prestige (one of my agencies) has finally added my profile to their site. Great! I just went to a casting I got through them yesterday morning. Today I'm wearing the dress that I made for myself when I graduated high school. Besides being pretty damn impressed it still fits me - it is motivating me to actually try this whole SmartGlamour thing. Andrew keeps pushing it and maybe I'll actually try to do it. Come on motivation, don't leave me now.

I need new comp cards - for serious. And I have so many photos to print for my portfolio. Unfortunately, all of these things cost money! Damn money.
Hopefully I will be getting a paycheck soon.

I also REALLY want a cruiser bike. They aren't as "exciting" as racing bikes or as "cool" as fixed gears so they are only like 100 bucks on Craigslist. Unfortunately again, I don't have 100 bucks.

Someday soon, bike, you will be mine and I will put a basket on you and it will be adorable.

Now that I have moved, and live in a KICKASS neighborhood where I actually enjoy going outside - I walk Ralph everyday (sometimes twice, if I have time) for 30-45 minutes a pop. We all know he is the laziest dog ever so after like 15 minutes he is trying to get into every doorway he can and immediately sits (or lays) every time I stop walking for a second. It's nice to be able to walk him and enjoy my neighborhood.

I can't believe it is getting closer and closer to August - and end of August means school is back! Thank the lord it is my last year, finally.

Gosh, where does time go?!
My life is constantly changing.

But I am very, very happy right now.

So those idiot police officers in Texas who beat the daylights out of some homosexual men in a gay bar are now using the defense, "they made a pass at me."

One man has a severe brain injury and might not even survive it -

so..
are these cops basically saying that I can beat the crap out of all the men that hit on me (on the street, nonetheless) and leave them either mentally handicapped or dead?! Because I'm actually, legitimately harassed pretty much every single day living in this city.

Tell me how that works.
